Courses, Short Courses, Tutorials

The Power and Energy Systems Area at the University of Illinois provides an extensive set of on-campus and off-campus courses, and supports several short courses, tutorial programs, and other educational outreach activities.  The list of University courses managed by the area is provided below.  Many of these are available for off-campus students in a web format.

Tutorial for non-engineers.  In the current climate of utility industry restructuring, it is essential that all interested parties have an understanding of the fundamental behavior and limitations of power systems.  This tutorial program was developed for the purpose.

The Power and Energy Systems Area has assembled some of the nation's finest facilities for experimental and computer-based research and teaching. Both undergraduate and graduate students take advantage of these facilities. These laboratories have generated wide interest, and they contribute significantly to growth in the area.

Courses

A number of courses are offered to provide interested students a broad background in power related issues. These include the following.  In general 400-level courses are advanced undergraduate offerings, although most are available for graduate credit.  500-level courses are intended for graduate students.


Off-Campus Courses

These web-based courses are available for non-resident students.  They are administered by the Office of Continuing Engineering Education.
